Susan Catherine (Roberts) Goodwin, of Point Pleasant, died on Monday, February 25, 2013 at NY Presbyterian Hospital, NYC. She is survived by her husband, Robert A. Goodwin, Jr.; her daughter, Cristina Goodwin; her mother, Carol Roberts; and her brother, William Roberts. She was born in Louisville, KY on December 21, 1946 to Walter and Carol Roberts. During her high school and college years, she and her brother, Bill competed with the United States Figure Skating Association (U.S.F.S.A.) in ice dancing pairs for four years. In 1967, Susan and Bill were Junior National Ice Dance Champions. Susan attended Columbia High School, Maplewood, and in 1969 graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in marine biology. She settled in Long Branch, NJ and worked as a fishery biologist at the Federal Marine Laboratory at Sandy Hook.

She married her husband, Robert on June 3, 1978 in Bay Head and worked at his side in establishing his oral surgery career as his office manager, surgical assisisant, and radiology technician. In addition, she was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow from the Brick Rotary Club, Afternoon Division, for her years of charitable work with that organization.

Susan was a selfless and loving woman and enjoyed living at the Jersey Shore with her family and pets. She was kind-hearted and helped every living creature she could, including her daughter, Cristina Goodwin, who was adopted by her and her husband in 1990 from Bucharest, Romania. All friends and family both in and out of the area loved Susan. She was the sweetest woman to everyone who knew her and will be dearly missed.

The funeral service will be at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road, Point Pleasant, NJ.
