Herbert Lee Alexander was the 7th child and 4th eldest Son born to William Pearson Alexander & Hannah Lee (Washington) Alexander, Herbert Alexander died @ age 20 after the Civil War


ALEXANDER, HERBERT LEE: b. 10/3/46. Conscripted Into Co. A as Pvt. (date not given). POW at Claymont Farm (home of his mother) Just west of Charles Town, W.Va. 1/31/65 (Ft. McHenry, 2/8/65). At Post Hosp. Ft. McHenry, 3/9-4/27, 1865 with anaenia. Released 4/27/65. d. 10/3/66. bur. Zion Episcopal Cem., Charles Town, W.Va. - See more at: http://civilwarscholars.com


Herbert Alexander, the third son, was in Baylor’s Cavalry, and he died after the war in October of 1866 of tuberculosis. No doubt it wasn’t helped by what ever war service he had. - See more at: http://civilwarscholars.com
