Edward Berreth, 73 died March 27, 1961 at the Leola Hospital in Leola, SD. He had been ill for five days. Funeral services were held at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Artas, SD with the Rev. Rudolph Reiker of Herreid officiating. Burial was at the Artas Cemetery in Campbell County, SD with Straub's Funeral Home of Eureka in charge of arrangements.
Edward was born February 25, 1888 in Menno in Hutchinson County, SD to Philipp Berreth and Christina Bier.
He married Christina Munsch January 24, 1911 in Artas, SD. Mr. Berreth was a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife; six sons, Edwin (Laura Vossler) of Herreid, SD; Albert (Rosie Kautz) of Artas, SD; Alvin (Martha Ochsner) of Artas; Edward Jr. (Dorothy Heiser)of Aberdeen, SD; Benjamin (Irma Bauer) of of Artas; Milbert (Janet Gravely) of McCammon, ID; three daughters: Mrs. Ida (Dean F. Hatch) of Lodi, CA; Mrs. Edna (Ralph Johnson) of Santa Ana, CA and Mrs. Lorine(Harold A. Lutz) of Underwood, ND. 32 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Stanley Weinzirl, Philip Martel, Arthur Berreth, Alfred Berreth, Emil Haas and Theabold Boschee.
