William Loftis Gipson was born in National Springs Logan Arkansas. National Springs was quite the bustling tourist stop for their natural Hot Springs. Around 1900, the railroad came through and the town did not want to build a station near their hot springs, so the railroad moved 1 mile north and built their depot and named the town Ratlciff after the owner of the Central Railroad.
