Isaac was born in Lewis County, the son of Valentine Butcher and Mary Ann Margaret Teter. He married Christina Life. They were the parents of 10 children: Jefferson Davis, Martha J. (Strader), Isaac F., Milton, Anna Margaret, Sarah Francis, Evan, Adeline, Silas and Salathiel.
Their home and farm was down the hill from the Louisa Jane Cemetery, but is now under Stonewall Jackson Lake.(Bio provided by Kate Jacques)

"BUTCHER, ISAAC one of the oldest citizens in the county died at his home on Little Skin Creek, Monday. Interred today."
