(ROANOKE) Services for Walter Jefferson "Dub" Mayfield, 75, of Roanoke were Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Roger Woodard officiating. Burial was in Randolph Memory Gardens.
Mr. Mayfield died Saturday, July 3, at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Presnal Mayfield of Roanoke; two daughters, Nina Truelock of Roanoke and Luvenia Shuman of Ft. Walton. Beach, Fla.; two sons, Mike Heard and Tommy Mayfield of Roanoke; three brothers, Charlie Mayfield of South Carolina and Tim Mayfield and Donnie Mayfield of Roanoke; two sisters, Mary Sue Lewis of Niangua, Mo., and Lila Jean Womble of Florence; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Mayfield was born Feb. 28, 1929, son of T. J. and Bonnie Strickland Mayfield. He was a member of Springfield Baptist Church, an owner and operator of Mayfield's Service Station and Garage of Roanoke for many years, and a Korean Air Force veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, Jimmie Tony Mayfield, and one brother, Max Mayfield.
Pallbearers were Budda Mayfield, Jamie Mayfield, Kody Yates, Vic Presnal, Tony Williamson and Chris Curtis.
Arrangements were by Quattlebaum Funeral Home, Roanoke.
