Faye Opal Moore, 81, of Homer, died at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 1983, at the Champaign County Nursing Home.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 2, at the Kirby Funeral Home, Homer, the Rev. Gary Fritz officiating. Interment was in G.A.R. Cemetery, Homer.
Mrs. Moore was born February 13, 1902, at St. Joseph, a daughter of Thomas and Bertha Doyle Swearingen. She married Arthur O. Moore December 6, 1919, at Sidney. He died in 1941. Survivors include two sons, Donald Moore of Homer and Arthur Moore, Jr. of Mahomet; a daughter, Mrs. Frank (Beverly) Carter of Homer; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a half-brother, Earl Gaylord of Walls, Miss.; and a half-sister, Opal Tolliver of Danville.
A sister and a half-brother preceded her in death. Mrs. Moore was a member of the Homer United Methodist Church, a former member of the Kum Joy Nus Sunday School Class, and clerked for many years in the former Cole Company Ben Franklin Variety Store, Homer. Memorials are to be made to the Homer G.A.R. Cemetery of the Homer United Methodist Church. (transcribed by Homer Historical Society)
