"Aged 82 years, 1 month, and 3 days"

He was the son of Abraham and Catherine (Rider) Barnes and married Parmelia Ann Compton. His obituary follows:

Mr. Henderson Barnes died at his home at Hugheyon Tuesday, September 7, 1909, Aged 72 years. He served on the side of the Confederacy during the war and was a loyal defender of the South. In civil life, there never lived a better man in Lincoln County. He was honest, not from policy - but from principle- it was of his nature a part. He was a member of the Baptist and ready when the call came summoning him up higher. The funeral service was conducted by Elder M. C. Cathcart; burial at the Barnes Graveyard.
