A native of Perry County, he was born May 5, 1947, the son of the late Wilbur Theodore and Emma Lee (Huck) Applegate.
He was a graduate of Cannelton High School and a member of Deer Creek Baptist Church in rural Tell City and American Legion Post 213 in Tell City. He was a truck driver for Eck Trucking in Otwell until illness forced his retiremen.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Charles Edward Applegate, Jr., in infancy and Brian Keith Applegate; his parents and two brothers Dennis in infancy and Frank Applegate
Services were held at non Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Huber Funeral Home in Cannelton. Elder Earl Wayne Miller officiated. Burial was in Simmons Cemetery in Tobinsport.
