Mrs. Lurena Hayes, 83, died Friday, December 2 at 10:15 p.m. at her home near Fern Creek in Jefferson County, Ky. Funeral services were held Monday, December 5 at 1:30 p.m. from the Lyon Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. T. C. Morrison of Louisville in charge of the services. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery. The pallbearers were Shelby Davis, Jack Davis, Lee Davis, Bobby Glen Davis, Glenn Beck and Aaron Beck. Mrs. Hayes, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wagoner, was born July 17, 1872 in Illinois. She lived in Taylor County for many years, moving to Jefferson County three years ago. She was a member of the Beech Grove Baptist Church. She united in marriage to Ira Davis, who preceded her in death in 1902. She later married E. O. Davis, who preceded her in death in 1912. She was married to E. O. Hayes, who survives. She is also survived by one daughter and four sons, Mrs. Rhoda Shirley of Louisville, Walter Davis of Taylorsville, Edgar Davis of Campbellsville, Willie Davis of Whiting, Indiana, and Epsie Davis of Green View, Illinois. Other survivors include two step-children, Mrs. H. H. Farmer of Fern Creek and Mrs. George Cox of Mannsville; one sister and one brother, Mrs. Ettie Taylor of Whiting, Ind., and Horace Wagoner of Petersburg, Ill., 40 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
