Clara was born to Paul and Lillian (Kolb) Ivey in Fremont on August 12, 1923. Her childhood years were spent in Fremont and she graduated from Fremont High School. She moved to Omaha in 1942.

On July 21, 1942, she was married in Yuma, Arizona to Bennett Smith. The couple came to Fremont from the Dodge, Nebraska area in 1988. Clara had worked as a dietician in the Schuyler, Nebraska hospital. She was a member of The Presbyterian Church in Fremont.

Clara was preceded in death by her husband Bennett in July of 2005, and by 2 grandchildren, 3 brothers, and a sister.

Susan and husband Joel Lorraine of Luxemburg, Wisconsin
Cynthia and husband Walter Fryer of Fremont
1 sister – Arlene Bersane of Chino, Calif.
1 brother – Jim Ivey of Gaffey, Colorado

The funeral service will be 2 PM Monday (March 11th) at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont, the Rev. Jon Ashley will officiate. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.

Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary will be on Sunday from 2 to 7 PM, with the family receiving friends from 3 to 5 PM.
