Allan Bradford Cooper was born September 17, 1912 in Denver, CO, the son of Charles A. Cooper and Evelyn Winters Cooper, grandson of Governor Job A. Cooper, an early governor of Colorado and a direct descendant and namesake of Governor William Bradford, the first governor of Massachusetts.

He attended Menlo Junior College, the University of Denver and graduate schools of the University of Arkansas, Tulane University and the University of Tennessee.

During WWII, he served as a lieutenant in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre.

Cooper was a retired superintendent of schools and retired director of Medical Services (Human Services Division) of Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John Cooper and is survived by his wife, Mary Sholders Cooper; a son and daughter-in-law, Allan Bradford Cooper, Jr. and Betty; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Britt Wimberly, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2004 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Hot Springs Village, AR with Rev. James McLean as celebrant. Burial will be in the Memorial Garden at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, HSV.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one's favorite charity.
