Mr. Maxwell was born in Elbert County, September 30, 1933, to the late Jasper Thomas and Lessie Vaughn Maxwell. He was a retired truck driver, U.S. Army Veteran, and a member of Elberton Christian Church.
Left to cherish his memories are his children, Richard and Denise Maxwell of Mobile, Alabama, Doug Maxwell of Athens, and Angie and Phil Foster of Hartwell; six grandchildren, Trae, Ricky, and Katie Maxwell, Brent Maxwell, Britney Scarborough, and Jack Foster; great-grandchildren, Malic and Grayson Scarborough, Charlotte and Weston Maxwell; sisters, Bobbi Adams of Dewy Rose and Wilma Barber of Fayetteville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by siblings, Pernie Driver, Fred Maxwell, J. Walter Maxwell, and Orene Moore.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held Sunday, March 10, at 2:00PM in the Elberton Christian Church with the Revs. Jay Aiken and Tim Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery. Mr. Maxwell will be placed in the church at 1:00PM to lie in-state until the service hour.
The family is at the residence, 1400 Washington Highway, and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00PM Saturday evening.
