MRS. JANE GEDDES CALLED BY DEATH
Passed Away at Home of Daughter in Owen
Deceased Was Born in Scotland But Came to America After Marriage in 1850 - Sister of G.H. Cormack

Mrs. Jane Geddes passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs Andrew Wishop in Owen at 9:30 o'clock last evening after a lingering illness. Deceased was taken with the illness that ultimately resulted in her death about three weeks ago and despite the best of care she gradually declined until death released her last evening.
Mrs. Geddes was a native of Scotland, having been born at Mill of Durno, Oct. 12, 1833. She was united in marriage with Mr. Geddes in 1850 and that year they left their native heath for America. They settled at Avon Springs, New York, from which place they came west to Winnebago county twenty-seven years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Geddes located on a farm in Owen which has since continued as the homestead. The husband preceded his companion and helpmate of over half a century to the great beyond by little less than a year.
Deceased was a member of the First Presbyterian church. She was a devoted mother, a kind neighbor and a faithful friend and word that her life labors have been ended will cause deep regret in the circles in which she was known and beloved.
Ten children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Geddes, two of which passed away some years ago. Those who survive to mourn the death of the mother are Mrs. D.W. Halley of Owen, Mrs. J.M. Hill, Cherokee, Ia.; Mesdames A. Wishop and A. Patterson, Owen; James Geddes, Minneapolis; William Geddes, New Milford; Mrs. S.D. Bartholomew, Cherry Valley; and Robert Geddes of Stillman Valley. Three brothers and one sister also remain. They are G.H. Cormack, Rockford; David Cormack of Cherokee, Ia., and Rev. William Cormack of Cape Town, South Africa.; and Mrs. Isabel Dawson of Invernie, Scotland.
Funeral services will be conducted at the late home Monday morning at 10:30 o'clock.
