May 12, 2002 TRAVERSE CITY - George Arthur "Butch" Allen of Traverse City, passed away Friday, May 10, 2002. Butch was born June 29, 1943 in Newberry MI, the son of the late Alvin & Marian (Griffith) Allen. On Sept. 1, 1962 he married the former Mary Lou Councilor in Old Mission. Butch was a member of Teamsters 214 and was employed by the city of Traverse City for 25 years, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed fishing, reading, gardening and doing his own lawn care & especially loved his cat..Sam. Butch is survived by his wife, Mary Lou of Traverse City; his three sons, William Arthur (Sandra) Allen of Alba, George Scott (Linda) Allen of Traverse City & Peter James (Patricia) Allen of Kingsley; three grandchildren, Brandon (Krissy), Crystal & Morgan; and one great-granddaughter; Five sisters, Bonnie Lee, Georgia Ash, Barbara McAlpine, Gracie Cole & Rose Swan; and three brothers, Pat, Rex & Russ Allen all from Indiana. Along with his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his brother, Francis "Sambo" Griffin, and his sister, Anna Mae Cole. A celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday, May 15, at the family home. Memorial Contributions may be directed to Munson Hospice
