Commonwealth's Attorney and Well Known in This Section Passed Away Monday
Hon. Brooking Taylor Harding, Commonwealth's Attorney for this district, died last Monday morning at 9:30 at the St. Joseph's Infirmary, Louisville. Mr. Harding on the 15th of this month, at Greensburg, was stricken by a very severe attack of appendicitis from which he never recovered. At once it appeared to the physicians that an operation was necessary and Mr. Harding was taken to Louisville for that purpose, and the operation was performed last Friday night. Every attention known to human hands was rendered him by physicians, friends and relatives, but although he seemed to be doing well after the operation, pneumonia developed and he rapidly passed away. Mr. Harding was a devoted Christian and a good lawyer, and as Commonwealth's Attorney, he made good, giving everyone a square deal. He came from one of the very oldest families of this entire section, and was popularly known as "Brookin" and had many friends. His remains were brought here Tuesday noon, to the home of his nephew, Abel Harding, who was at his bedside until death. The funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the Brookside Cemetery, by Rev. W. W. Horner, at which place his remains were laid to rest. A large crowd attended the funeral, many coming here from a distance, especially lawyers from Lebanon, Greensburg, and Springfield. The deceased leaves a wife, two brothers, Samuel A. Harding and Abraham Harding, both of this county, and two sisters, Mrs. Samuel Campbell of this county and Mrs. Mollie Hagan of Cecelia, Ky., and many relatives and friends in this and adjoining counties. We extend sincere sympathy to the sorrowing relatives and friends.
