He served for a time as guardian to Catharina's son Frederick Augustus Rohrer (1794-1882) and her first husband Frederick Rohrer (1767-1794). He and Susanna had no children of their own, but may have reared some of the orphaned Marshall children. They made their home from about 1812 on the Allegheny River near Millers Eddy, Perry Township, Armstrong County PA.
