Thomas was the oldest of 12 children born to Reverend George III & Sarah (Craycraft) Tarvin. At the age of 18 Thomas married Deborah Flora on 9 February 1788 in Hampshire County, (West) Virginia.

Thomas & Deborah lived their entire married life in Campbell County, Kentucky; known towns of Covington & Carthage. Thomas passed away in the late summer / fall of 1850 in Carthage, Campbell County, Kentucky residing with his son Thomas Floyd Tarvin.

They had 12 know children:
