Lt. Col. Mincey was born Jan. 9, 1941 in Loris, a son of Geraldine Cox Mincey and the late Kirby Mincey. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Lt. Colonel, having served as a fighter pilot during the Viet Nam War. He was also a businessman and a graduate of the University of South Carolina. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol.
Surviving Lt. Col. Mincey, in addition to his wife of the home, are; his mother, Geraldine Cox Mincey of Augusta, Ga.; three daughters, Rhea Moore and her husband Clinard of Mullins, Christy Gray and her husband, Lonnie of Mullins and Victoria Gray and her husband, Chuck, of Mullins; eight grandsons; one granddaughter and two sisters, Sylvia Cooler and her husband, Joe, of Atlanta, Ga., and Wanda Rowe and her husband, Jack, of Augusta, Ga.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Cedardale Cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
