British Social Figure. She was famous for her fourteen-month marriage to George Gordon Lord Byron. Brilliantly intellectual, her marriage to him ran the gamut of romance and acrimony. After their separation and his death, she devoted her life to social reform causes, especially the abolition of slavery.
