Effie married Enoch Ansgar Anderson on April 10, 1920. They lived in the Mill Lake area and were members of the Holmes City Lutheran Church. Living on the farm they raised their daughters Maycel and Ardyce. Because of health reasons they quit farming and moved to Minneapolis in 1952 where Effie worked for the Swedish Hospital. They were members of Augustana Church there. They moved back to Alexandria to retire and Enoch passed away in June, 1966. Effie was a past member of the Douglas County Hospital Auxiliary, the Homemakers Club, Knute Nelson Auxiliary and the Garden Club. She was also a member of the World War I Auxiliary and will be remembered for carrying the flag in parades and Legion conventions. Effie attended church in Holmes City the last time on Maundy Thursday and Easter 1984. She decided the church needed new outdoor steps with a middle rail. Effie made sure a drive fund was started and the rail was completed although Effie was never able to see the completed task.
She died on November 1, 1986, at the Douglas County Hospital at the age of 87 years. Effie is survived by daughters: Maycel and husband Robert Clark of Alexandria; Ardyce Malz of Alexandria. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Effie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant daughter, an infant grandson, brothers Arthur and Willie and sister Selma.
Funeral services were Wednesday, November 5, 1986, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Holmes City, Minnesota with Rev. Mark Chelgren officiating.
