Nancy Marie Holladay Stroud, age 71 years, of Fort Worth, joined her Savior on Wednesday, March 23, 2011.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 28, at Edge Park United Methodist Church, 5616 Crowley Road, Fort Worth. The family will receive guests at Edge Park Church at 10 a.m. Monday. Interment at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, at Mount Zion Methodist Cemetery, Hwy 34 at G.W. Horn Road, Montgomery, Louisiana.
Donations may be made to the general fund of Edge Park United Methodist Church.
Nancy Holladay was born in Fort Deposit, Ala., on Nov.17, 1939, to Otis Clyde Holladay and Lois Posey Strickland Holladay. Nancy grew up in Fort Deposit and Mobile, Alabama where she graduated from high school. Nancy went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano Performance from Judson College in Marion, Alabama in 1961. Being a strong believer in life-long education, Nancy continued her own later in life, receiving degrees of Master of Music in Organ Performance, from Texas Christian University where she was a member of Pi Kappa Lambda honorary musical fraternity. In addition to her musical degrees, Nancy earned a medical transcription certification from The School of Medical Transcription.
Nancy married Ray B. “Jim” Stroud on May 19, 1962, in Bay Minette, Ala. and gave birth to three children, Ray Burns Jr., Kathleen Marie and Robert Houston. Having been granted tremendous musical talent, Nancy served her Lord as organist at Columbia Drive Baptist Church, Decatur, Georgia, First Baptist Church, Bastrop, Trinity Baptist Church, Lake Charles, St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, Fort Worth and Edge Park United Methodist Church, Fort Worth, from whence she took a medical retirement. As part of her legacy, Nancy left many trained pianists through her years of piano instruction.
Nancy was preceded in death by her brother and his wife, Francis and Margie Holladay, of Atlanta, Georgia.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ray B. Stroud, of Fort Worth; children, Ray Burns Stroud Jr. and wife, Lisa Harris Stroud, of Longview, Texas, Kathleen Stroud Eynon and husband, Dan Eynon, of Georgetown, Texas and Robert Houston Stroud and wife, Kristin Cruser Stroud, of Amarillo, Texas; grandchildren, Nicole Strable Williamson, Mellissa Strable, Leslie Stroud, Shannon Stroud, Daniel Eynon Jr., William Stroud, Jack Stroud, Elinor Eynon and Barrett Stroud; great-grandchildren, Madelyn Williamson, Christian Williamson and Samson Williamson; her sister, Mary Holladay Fondren and brother, Charles Holladay both of Birmingham, Ala.; numerous nieces and nephews and very special family friend, Bette Matha Dozier of Fort Worth.
