His father was Elijah Stidham, and his mother Mary "Polly" Stidham Day Stidham. He was married to Nettie Francis Salley, 1901-1992. Their children include: James Arlis Stidham, Martha Lillie Ross, Orville Stidham, Lena Centers, Mary Davonia Easterling, and William A. Stidham.

An acquaintance writes, "George lived at Helechawa, it appears, until he married Nettie. After the marriage, he and Nettie lived on the outskirts of Lee City on Cooks Branch ( about 3 miles from Helechawa) near where she grew up and where her parents continued to live. I don't think they moved toward Landsaw. However . . . some of Nettie's Salley relatives did move to the Landsaw area and are buried there."

Nettie's actual gravestone is located in a private cemetery about three miles from Landsaw, Wolfe Co. Because the cemetery is not registered with Find-a-Grave, a memorial has been created for her here in the Stidham Family Graveyard.
