Brent A. Anderson

TERRE HAUTE — Brent A. Anderson, 72, of Terre Haute, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2013. Brent was born Feb. 15, 1941, in Terre Haute, to Elmer Peck Anderson and Anna Louise Ellingsworth Anderson.

Brent attended St. Leonard Grade School, Schulte High School, and received a bachelor's and master's degree from Indiana State University. While at Indiana State, Brent met and married Judy Mars on June 12, 1965. He had a long and successful career as a teacher and coach that began at Sacred Heart High School in Indianapolis, Central Catholic High School in Fort Wayne, Clinton and South Vermillion in Clinton, and retiring from Sarah Scott Middle School in Terre Haute, in 2005. In 2010, Brent was honored by being inducted into the Indiana High School Football Coach Hall of Fame. He was a passionate supporter of Indiana State University Athletics and took great pride in watching his grandchildren play sports ranging from youth events all the way up to college football. In his spare time Brent loved working alongside his wife Judy supporting her in her political career, especially during her term as the first female mayor of Terre Haute; he also enjoyed working outdoors in the yard of their Terre Haute home.

Brent is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Mars Anderson; two daughters, Debbie Anderson Sullivan and her husband Jay Sullivan and Jenny Anderson Bean and her husband Brian Bean, both residing in Noblesville; two sons, Matt Anderson and his wife Michelle and Luke Anderson and his wife Brenda, both residing in Terre Haute; one brother, Joe Anderson and his wife Gloria of Terre Haute; and a twin sister, Eleanor Robling also of Terre Haute. Brent had nine grandchildren, Conner, Keegan, Cody and Anna Sullivan, Caleb and Cooper Bean, Trevor Anderson, John Henry Anderson, and Noah Rollins; nieces and nephews, Joe Anderson Jr., Mark Anderson, Lisa Anderson, Matt Robling, Jane McCain, Julie Potee, and Vicki Sordean. He was preceded in death by one sister, Lucille Coffman.

Brent was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church Terre Haute.

Private services were held with Friar Mark Weaver officiating. A celebration of life for Brent will be announced for family and friends at a later date following his wife Judy's recovery. Final resting for Brent is at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Brent's name to Catholic Charities of Terre Haute.
