Carl E. Langley

Emporia-Carl E. Langley, 83, Emporia, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, at an Emporia hospital.

Mr. Langley was a clerk for Santa Fe Railway 38 years before he retired in 1968.
He was born Aug. 27, 1900, near Sylvan Grove in Lincoln County, the son of Darwin G. and Nellie B. Trefethen Langley. He lived in Emporia since 1926.
Mr. Langley was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Emporia Chapter No. 87 of American War Dads, Elder Citizens and the Over 40 Club, all at Emporia.

He was married to Mary Likes March 31, 1920, at Lindsborg. She died in 1946. He was married to Thelma H. Baugh Dec. 7, 1947, at Emporia. She died in 1975. He was married to Vera M. Tatman July 7, 1976, at Emporia. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Nellie M. Owens, Salinas, Calif.; two sons, Clarence T. Langley, Wichita; and Carl A. Langley, Canyon, Texas; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Mary Shaver and Mrs. Olive Thomsen, both of Emporia, Mrs. Maxine McCauley, Loveland, Colo., and Mrs. Wilma M. Renyer, Topeka; three stepsons, L.V. Baugh, Garland, Texas, Lyle E. Tatman, Glendale, Cali., and Richard Tatman, Emporia; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Nichols, Enterprise, and Mrs. Nellie Hutchcraft, Ellinwood; a stepsister, Mrs. Ora Humpert, Salina; 34 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home here. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery at Emporia. Memorial contributions may be made to the elevator fund at Grace United Methodist Church in Emporia.
