Pauline's father, Ambrose Bourn, died when she was six years old and her mother, Susan Augustine Alexander Bourn, died when she was twelve. Pauline was raised by her aunt, Martha Alice Alexander Tinsley and her husband, Bailey Tinsley. Tinsley was a cotton farmer in Eric, Oklahoma.

From the November 18, 1984 edition of the McAllen Moniter, "Pauline Stripling, 85, died Saturday in Amarillo after a brief illness. A native of Sanger, Texas, Mrs. Stripling lived in McAllen for 31 years before moving to Amarillo a year ago.

Mrs. Stripling was preceded in death by her husband, W.A. Stripling.

The body will lie in state at Virgil Wilson Mortuary today from 4 to 8 p.m. and Monday until noon.

Graveside services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with Rev. Bill Hicks of Central Christian Church officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be N.L. Borman, Marvin Christensen, Brent Thornton, Jess Birkenholtz, Jerry Irby, Roy Borman, Doug Thornton, Glenn Sigle, Jim Kaml and William Harkey."
