From the September 27, 1978, edition of the McAllen Moniter, "W.A. Stripling, 82, a retired insurance executive, died at 2:30 a.m. today at his home in McAllen following a lengthy illness.

A native of Marion, La., Mr. Stripling had lived in McAllen for 26 years. He had been in the Postal Inspection Service for eight years and an administrative assistant to the Secretary of Commerce for 12 years. For the past 20 years he had served as a director of American Capitol Insurance Company.

Survivors are his Wife, Mrs. Pauline Stripling, and two cousins, W.A. Reaves of Texarkana, Ark. and Ethelle Sloan of Little Rock, Ark.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Central Christian Church. Rev. Jary Irby, the pastor, will officiate. He will be assisted by Rev. Owens of the Rio Grande Childrens Home.

Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Wilson Mortuary.

W.B. Thornton, Brent Thornton, W.H. Barkey, Ed Sprugin, Ed Kirby, and A.I. Borman will be pallbearers. N.I. Bormann, Jim Kaml, Jack Marlow, J.M. Birkenholtz, W.H. McCaffery, R.W. Petty, Fred Armstrong, Jr. and deacons of Central Christian Church will be honorary pallbearers.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Rio Grande Childrens Home, Rt. 1, Box 535, Mission or M.D. Anderson Cancer Research Center, Houston."
