Eldon H. Janzen, 76, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at his Newton residence.
He was born Nov. 15, 1936, in Newton to Herman S. and Linda (Peters) Janzen.
Eldon was a graduate of Walton High School and attended Wichita Business College several years later. On Aug. 8, 1958, he married Caroline Spencer in Newton, and she survives of the home. He joined Axtell Clinic originally as bookkeeper and left as assistant administrator. Eldon was a member of Grace Community Church in Newton.
Eldon enjoyed history, singing in church choir, reading and studying the Bible, and playing and watching sports. He looked forward to traveling on many occasions to the Ozarks, and to Colorado, where he enjoyed skiing. He was a patriotic person and greatly looked forward to spending time with his loving family and many friends.
Eldon is survived by his wife, Caroline; daughter, Pamela and husband, Ken Knutson of Chandler, Ariz.; son, Eric and wife, Nicole of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter, Stephanie Suderman of Newton; seven grandchildren, Halie, Andrew and Camille Knutson, Austin and Allison Janzen, and Tatum and Tyler Suderman; brother, Richard Janzen of Hesston; brother-in-law, Franklin Hiebert of Longmont, Colo.; sister-in-laws, Kathleen (Willard) Androes of Rogers, Ark., and Rebecca (Mick) Dudte of Newton; brother-in-laws, Lee Albert (Vivian) Spencer of Glendale, Ariz., and Lyman Spencer of Newton; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Anna Marie Hiebert; and sister-in-law, Charlene Janzen.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2013, at Grace Community Church in Newton, with pastors David Reimer and Steve Friesen presiding. Visitation will be 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Petersen Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
Memorials are suggested to Grace Community Church or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
