Bobbie Sue Butler Burton, 79, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the Magnolia Manor of Tupelo, MS. Visitation will be on Saturday March 9, 2013 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home on High Street in Jackson with services starting at 2:00pm at the funeral home conducted by her son-in-law, Reverend David Blackwell, with burial in the Raymond City Cemetery.
A native of Mize, MS, Ms Burton had lived in Jackson many years before moving to Tupelo in 2010. She was a member of Daniel Memorial Baptist Church. She was a retired federal employee with 34 years of service with the Office of Hearings and Appeals. Prior to civil service, she had worked 21 years in private industry.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas L. Burton, her parents, N. O. and Bessie L. Butler, her sisters, Winnie L. Gipson and Ulma R. Sullivan and her brothers, J. B. Butler, Bill R. Butler and Dennis M. Butler. Survivors include her daughter Cynthia B. Blackwell of Houlka and grandson Timothy P. Blackwell of Starkville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sanctuary Garden Fund, First Baptist Church Houlka, PO Box 205, Houlka, MS 38850
