"Services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday at Main Street Baptist Church for Mrs. Annie Helen Newman Phillips, 91, of Huntsville, AL, formerly of Hattiesburg.
She died Wednesday, March 6, 2013.
Burial will be in Roseland Park Cemetery.
She was born on May 13, 1921, in Lincoln County, MS, to Henry Lee, Sr. and Lula Mae Barnes Newman.
Mrs. Phillips was an active member of Main Street Baptist Church up until her move to be near her son.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Al Nathan Phillips, her parents, as well as two brothers, James Francis Newman and Henry Lee Newman, Jr. and a sister, Edith Newman Diamond.
She is survived by a son, Alton Monroe Phillips (Carol) of Huntsville, AL; a brother, Paul Newman (Ruth) of Jackson, MS; four grandchildren, Alton Monroe Phillips, Jr. (Cheryl), Stephanie Phillips Hill, James Jackson Phillips, II (Nicole), and Stephen Guy Phillips (Misty); nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM Friday at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home and beginning at 10:30 AM Saturday at Main Street Baptist Church. The Rev. Bob Jones will officiate the service."
