Mrs. Hannah C. Ziemer, who had lived in Martin County longer than any other person--79 years--died Saturday at the age of 85. She passed away at the home of a daughter, Mrs. John Juhl, near Estherville, where she had been for the past few weeks. Prior to that she had been in Fairmont for several months at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Steve Rose, coming here from her longtime home at Dunnell.

Mrs. Ziemer was a Territorial Pioneer, coming to Minnesota in 1857, a year before Minnesota attained statehood. She was six years old when her parents migrated from New York to Minnesota and since residing here.

Her parents William and Rebecca Johnson lived in the land that is now Interlaken park. They abandoned the place during the Indian uprising and fled to Winnebago City. After the danger passed, they returned. In 1870, Hannah Johnson's marriage to August Ziemer, who had homesteaded in section 22, Lake Fremont in 1869, occured. This farm is still occupied by one of the boys, Jesse.

Mrs Ziemer wqs the mother of 15 (16) children, four (5) of whom are deceased. Mr. Ziemer died in 1924. The surviving children are Olive, Mrs. Joel DeTienne of New Richmond, Wis; Mary, Mrs W.A. McCorkle of Welcome; Clara, Mrs. Steve Rose, Fairmont; Will, Brownsvalley; Ernest, Welcome; Charles, Fairmont; Emma, Mrs. John Juhl, Estherville; Jesse, Dunnell; Harry, Fairmont; George, Wykoff; Hubert, Estherville.

Mrs. Johnson also had two sisters, Melissa Johnson and Mrs. Robert Savage and four brothers, Clark ,Isaac, Charles and George. There are 43 grandchildren and about forty greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at the John Juhl farm home near Estherville at 1 P.M. and at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church in Dunnell. Rev. M. Lee Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Lake Fremont cemetery
