In 1971, he opened his first Hardee's Restaurant in Wilkesboro. As a Hardee's franchisee, Jack developed the made-from-scratch homemade breakfast biscuit. In 1977, he and co-founder Richard Thomas opened the first Bojangles' Famous Chicken 'n Biscuits in Charlotte. Jack led Bojangles until his retirement in 1985.
--He married Mildred Hart on May 19, 1951 in Forsyth County, NC. They had 3 children: son Jack Zimmerman Fulk, Jr. who predeceased him. They also had 2 daughters: Donna and Gina Fulk. 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren.
