Obituaries

Charles Samuel Coen, 83, of Lebanon, Ore., died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, at his home. He was born Dec. 29, 1920 in
Verndale, Minn., the son of Herbert D. and Iona L. (Roberts) Coen.

At the age of 10, he and his family came across country in two Model T's to California, and settled in Hueneme, Calif. He married Eugenia G. Hancock on April 4, 1943 in Ojai.

Mr. Coen worked as a carpenter. Eventually he'd work for Harbor UCLA Medical Center doing maintenance. He retired in 1983 and in 1988 he and his wife moved to Lebanon, Ore. They became members of the First Assembly of God Church in Lebanon. They got involved with the Oasis Group (formally the 39 forever group) at the church.

Mr. Coen was also a member of the Clipper Club traveling all around Oregon in their motor home. His interests included wood working, and he always had a boat so he could go fishing with friends.

He is survived by his wife, Eugenia Coen of Lebanon, Ore.; three children, Linda Ingersoll of Harbor City, Calif., Mike Coen of Arvada, Colo., and John Coen of San Jose, Calif.; brother David Coen, who is currently traveling the United States; sister Gracie Elam of Montague, Calif.; eight grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, three sisters and a grandchild.

Services were held March 6, 2004 at the Church of the Living Christ, Ojai, and interment was at Nordhoff Cemetery, Ojai.

Arrangements were under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home, Ojai.
