Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Mary M. "Donna" Benson, 93, a resident of Davenport, will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at St. Paul the Apostle Church, Davenport. Burial will take place in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, downtown Davenport. There will be additional visitation at the church from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the Mass.
Mrs. Benson passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Mary Madonna Scieszinski was born on October 26, 1919 in Melrose, Iowa, a daughter of Dan and Mary (Comer) Scieszinski. She was united in marriage to Ray Benson on September 21, 1940 in Davenport. He preceded her in death on January 26, 2004. They shared over 63 years of marriage together.
Donna worked as a bookkeeper for Bowlmor Lanes in Davenport for over 32 years, retiring in 1984.
She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, their Altar and Rosary Society, and the Moose Lodge. She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. They were her greatest joy.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.
Donna is survived by a son-in-law, Roger Greim, Princeton, IL; grandchildren: Steven (Misty) Greim, Washington, IL, Jeffrey (Kim) Greim, Altoona, Mark (Christina) Greim, Sachse, TX, Jennifer (Chris) Like, Eldridge, and Chad (Sarah) Greim, Davenport; great-grandchildren: Bryan, Nathan, Hope, Sydney, Tommy, Adam, Braden, Lacey, and Brighton; a sister, Betty Conway, Davenport; and a brother, Jack Scieszinski, Albia, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ray, a daughter, Janet Greim; her parents, and a brother, James.
