Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Walter Lee and Mary Amanda Ashmore.
Mr. Ashmore served in the US Army. He was owner operator of Ashmore's Fishing Lake and was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving, in addition to his wife are son, Michael Ashmore; daughters, Barbara Pyle and husband David, Sandra Parham, and Patricia Whitten and husband Terry; nine grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by grandson, David Pyle, Jr.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 6, 2013 from 1:30-2:45pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast, 1604 NE Main Street, Simpsonville, SC 29681. The funeral will follow in the Southeast Chapel at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
