Services will be held at Hansen Mortuary 710 6th St. in Rupert. A celebration of his life will begin at 11a.m. Wed. March 6.
Roy was born on May 7, 1937 in Logan, Utah. The son of Ernest and Evelyn Thalman. He attended school in Ogdon and Logan Utah. The family moved to Rupert, Idaho in 1954 where Roy graduated from Rupert High in 1955.
On June 29 1959 Roy was united in marriage with the love of his life Klea Rae Bell in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.
Roy enjoyed his career very much living in Arizona, Utah, and Wyoming. Roy was employed with the Bureau of Reclamation where he worked on the Colorado River Storage Project and Central Utah Project in varies capacities. Roy began his career surveying and busting out the north side in Rupert. He then became a drill rig operator working on many dams and varies sites in the western states. He later transferred to Montrose CO, to accept a position as a heavy equipment operator continuing to work throughout the western states. Roy was an especially talented crane operator. He later completed a 4 year educational and apprenticeship program to become a transmission lineman for Western Area Power Administration. Roy was a member and past president of IBEW. After retirement he continued to do electrical safety training and loved working with and on his son's farm.
Growing up in Logan, Roy enjoyed traveling with his family and playing all types of sports especially baseball and ice skating. He also enjoyed camping, boating, water skiing, hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his family. Roy was an adventurous soul and carried with him a "can do" attitude and was known for his boisterous laughter.
Surviving family members who were blessed and honored to share Roy's life include two children Jeffrey Thalman and Kristie (Mike) Edmondson; three grandchildren: Jennifer (Buck) Fife, Tiffany (Justin) Warr and Michael Thalman (Jordanne)four great-grandchildren: Cooper and Max Fife, Taylor "Tot" and Payton Warr; one brother Don Thalman (Connie) two sisters Maxine Stephenson (Lamar) and Joyce Jensen (Ron)
Roy was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years Klea Thalman his parents Ernest and Evelyne Thalman one niece Amy Jensen-Manning.
