Eva E. Grace Carreiro, 74 Owned Tips 'n Tops in P'town St. Peter's church communicant TRURO- Eva Elizabeth (Cook) Grace Carreiro, 74, of Truro, a former Provincetown restaurant owner, died unexpectedly on Friday at J.F.K. Hospital in Atlantis, Fla.

She was the wife of Edward "Babe" Carreiro.

Mrs. Carreiro was born in Provincetown, the oldest of six children and graduated from Provincetown High School in 1942. She worked for several years in the Naval factory in Boston and then returned to Provincetown, where she worked as a waitress for several years.

In 1965, she and her husband bought the Provincetown restaurant Tips'n Tops and ran the business until retiring in 1992. The couple moved to Truro in 1997.

Mrs. Carreiro was a lifelong communicant of St. Peter the Apostle Church in Provincetown, and was a past recipient of the Catholic Diocese Marion Award.

She was a member of the Portuguese American Civic League.

She enjoyed bowling and was an avid golfer at Highland Links in Truro and in Florida. She and her husband spent the winters in Florida after their retirement.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Carreiro is survived by two sons, Gerald and Joseph Carreiro, both of Provincetown three sisters, Helen Grace of Provincetown and Florida, Beverly Ferreira of Provincetown, and Yvonne Souza of North Truro two brothers, James W. Cook of Florida and Chester Cook of Provincetown five grandchildren two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was also the mother of Michael Carreiro who died at age two.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter the Apostle Church in Provincetown. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Visiting hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at McHoul Funeral Home, Harry Kemp Wa Howland Street in Provincetown, with vigil prayer at 7:30 p.m.
