ELLAVILLE -- Ms. Christine Byrd, 63, of 131-B Cherokee St., Americus died Saturday evening, April 23, 2005, at Sumter Regional Hospital in Americus. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, April 26, 2005, in the chapel of Watson-Giddens Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Crowell Cemetery in Taylor County. The Rev. Deb Bibler will officiate.

Ms. Byrd was born April 19, 1942, in Taylor County, the daughter of Annie Mae and Lewis Byrd. She was a homemaker and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Americus.

Survivors include her companion, Roger Hainesworth; one brother and sister-in-law, J.C. (Coot) and Mary Byrd of Newnan; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Retha and Millard Wisham of Americus, and Carol and Bill Byrd of Ellaville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Ms. Byrd was preceded in death by one brother, Mr. Sidney Byrd.

Pallbearers will include Jimmy Byrd Sr., David Byrd, Paul Schofield, Garry Greene, Herschel Wisham and Robbie Brown. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. April 25, 2005, at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville.

The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Millard Wisham, 1006 Hickory Drive, Americus.
