A celebration of life will convene on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at 10:00 AM, the viewing on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, both at the First Timothy Baptist Church, 215 Chancellor Ave, Newark, NJ. Interment is in Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield, NJ. Arrangments are by the Lombardi Funeral Home, Harrison, NJ.
Born on March 9, 1942 in Sardis, GA, Carrie moved with her family to Newark, NJ, while she was young. She was employed by Faber, Coe and Gregg before retiring in 2010.
Carrie leaves to cherish her memories, a beloved daughter, Risha-Khaira Griffin; her sisters, Lizzie B. Williams, Cynthia Hardaway, Pecola Griffin, Barbara Williams and Betty Lucas; her brothers, Jerome Williams, Darnell Williams and Lavan Williams; nieces, Nefertari Williams and Davon Grimmer; nephews, Khalil Hardaway and Ja'Sidney Nichols; great-niece, DeJanee Brewer; aunts, Isabelle Dickens, Martha Brown, Ada Rendleman, Annie Ruth Byrd and Dorothy Griffin; great-aunt, Everlena Clark; step-mother, Janie Williams; god-son, Terrique Griffin; special cousins, Kenneth Clark, Hubert C.
