HAMPTON - Vera B. Barrick, 95, of Hampton, died Tuesday (Sept. 3, 2002) at the Franklin General Hospital Nursing Facility in Hampton. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Hillside Cemetery, Sheffield with Mr. Red Haugland presiding. Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. today at Garry-Roberts- Murphy-Schaaf-Grarup Funeral Home and Monday from 8 until 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.

Vera B. VanWinkle was born July 17, 1907, the daughter of Roy Verne and Grace (Merical) VanWinkle in Highview, Iowa. She attended schools in the Webster City area. On February 26, 1927, Vera was united in marriage with Ira E. Barrick in Eldora, Iowa. They moved to a farm in the Sheffield area in the 1940s where they farmed until Ira died and Vera moved into Hampton in 1971. She has lived in the care center since 1994. Vera loved to have her kids come visit and always had candy for the grandchildren. She enjoyed the farm and her pets and playing cards with her friends and family.

Vera is survived by two daughters, Mary (George) Kinsinger, Camdenton, Mo., Joan Nolte, Ocala, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a son-in-law, Duane Renberg; two sisters- in-law, Emma Thomas, Des Moines, and Florence Meyne, Greene; and nieces and nephews. Vera is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Leona; daughter, Carol Renberg; son-in-law, David Nolte; grandson, Steven Renberg; two great- grandsons, Jason Froning and Matthew Miller; sister, Louise Beaman; and brother, Don VanWinkle.
