A native of Gastonia, he was a son of Loyde Earl and Mary Stewart Black.
He was a graduate of Hunter Huss High School. He was the owner and broker in charge of Black & Whisnant Properties of Gastonia opening in 1983 until earlier this year. He attended Bethlehem Church, Gastonia.
A service to celebrate his life will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Bethlehem Church with the Rev. Dickie Spargo officiating.
Interment will follow in Gaston Memorial Park.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia.
