WINTER HAVEN -- Mr. T. Ray Palmer of Winter Haven died of heart failure Friday (Sept. 17, 2004) at Forsythe Hospice House in Auburndale. He was 94.

Born in Waynesboro, Va., on Jan. 14, 1910, Mr. Palmer came to Winter Haven from Arlington, Va., in 1969. He was the owner and operator of an insurance agency in Washington, D.C. He was a member of the Joppa Masonic Lodge No. 35 in Washington, D.C., and the Winter Haven Masonic Lodge No. 186 F & AM. He was a member of the Winter Haven Order of Eastern Star and the Royal Order of Jesters. He was a member of the Winter Haven Elks Lodge No. 1672 and the Lake Region Billikin Club. He was a member of the Lake Region Yacht and Country Club. He was a member of the Gold Coats at Winter Haven Hospital. He was a member and former president of the Winter Haven Hospital Auxiliary. He was a member of the Polk Council No. 11. He was a member and former deacon at First Presbyterian Church of Winter Haven.

Mr. Palmer was preceded in death by his wife, Maude O. Palmer. He is survived by 19 nieces and nephews, including Elizabeth Grandy, Claremont, Calif.
