He first married Rose Bauer circa 1900 and they had 5 children. After her death in 1918, he married Elizabeth Rae Claxton (Memorial #57268360) on Oct 1, 1921 in Paris, KY. She was divorced from her first husband, Luther Claxton. Elizabeth died in 1925.

William was a Florist and Gardener at Hartland Farm from 1913 to 1928 in Woodford County, just north of Versallies. He also resided there. At the time, Hartland Farm (aka Spring Hill) was a famous horse breeding farm with 450 acres, owned by US Senator Johnson N. Camden, Jr.
