Dan L. Contreras was born June 1st, 1931 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to John and Grace Contreras (Smith) and past away on Wednesday March 6,2013 at the age of 81.

Dan honorably served his country in the Armed Services during the Korean War, and was known as First Class Sargent Dan. After his service he worked for Liberty Glass for 26 years and then retired after 10 years from Tulsa County Parks and Recreation Department. He was a member of the Sapulpa Elks Lodge for 29 years and the VFW where his cheerful personality and strong ethics helped him forge a friendship with many. He was an avid farmer and enjoyed his retirement on the farm where he raised cattle and prize winning watermelons and sweet potatoes. His smile was infectious and his loving heart he gave to many. We will forever love him just as he forever loved us.

He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years Nadine Contreras, two brothers, Everett Contreras and Roy Lee Contreras, daughter Jenifer Hayden and husband Clint, son Kenneth Contreras and wife Lillian, six stepchildren, Larry Gregory, Donna Cole, Kenneth Gregory, Vera White, Lisa Lockhart, Emma Sherry, nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, (one on the way), one great- great-grandchild , eight step-grandchildren, thirteen great-stepchildren, and is preceded in death by his son Terry Contreras.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Green Hills Memorial Cemetery in Sapulpa, Oklahoma with Pastor Randy Dyer of Eastland Assembly of God officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
