Margaret Petty

MEAD, Okla. - Margaret S. Petty of Mead, Oklahoma and formerly of Denison, was born on Feb. 14, 1940 in Golden, Okla. and passed from this life on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at her home with her loving children by her side.

Margaret attended school in Denison and later met her future husband Billy Ray Petty Sr. at Wright's Drive Inn. They later married on June 8, 1957 and they spent 28 plus years together until Billy's death on April 6, 1985. She worked many jobs to help support her family but her greatest job was being a loving, devoted, and caring wife and mother. She moved to Mead in 1995 from Denison and spent cherished time and memories with her sister Cotton. Margaret attended Sunnyside Baptist Church in Denison and she loved garage sales, playing bingo, fishing, watching cooking shows, reading, and listening to CMT country music.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Hansel and Fannie (Sutton) Goodman; brother, Pete Whittington; sister Barbara Jean Nation; her beloved other mother, Ruby Petty and husband Coy; son-in-law, Brian Hicks; sister-in-law, Maxine Stonecypher and brothers in law Ray Singleton and Weldon Harris.

Those loved ones left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Debbie Hicks and Brandon Morris of Sadler, Texas and Kim Knowles and husband Brian of Denison; son Billy Ray Petty Jr. and wife Marty of Denison; grandchildren, Rhiannon Petty Estrada and husband Carlos, Madison Rae Petty and Jaden Tyler Petty; great-grandchildren, Neilan Estrada and Kinlee Estrada; sister Ann Harris of Mead; extended family, Louise Singleton and Calvin Stonecypher and nieces and nephews, Tayna, Lacretia, Javanna, Shanna, Tim, Don and Nicole and a host of great nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Margaret's life will be held Friday, March 8, 2013 at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park Chapel in Sherman, Texas with Bro. James Crawford officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Brown's Funeral Service, 4900 West U.S. Highway 70 in Durant. Interment will be Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Sherman with Tim Gatlin, Don Gatlin, Calvin Stonecypher, Carlos Estrada, Bob Morris and Ramon Walker serving as honorary pallbearers.

Memorial Donations may be made to a Hospice of your choice. A Special thanks to all the Victory Home Health Hospice staff, nurses, and Dr. Terry Lee of MCSO for their loving care of our mom. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.brownsfuneralservice.com.
