US COAST GAURD
1950-53

Russell Jacobson passed away unexpectedly , surrounded by his loving family. Russ graduated from Lincoln H.S. in Seattle in'49 and PLU in '57. He served in the US Coast Guard from 1950 to 1953, assigned to the CGC Newell, stationed in Hawaii, Alaska and the North Pacific and recently received a medal of appreciation from the Republic of Korea. He met Margaret Blake at a young adult church group and was married on Sept. 28, 1958 in Lisbon, ND. They celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary in 2012. Russ and Margaret made their home in Bellevue and raised two boys, Lance and Leif. They also maintained homes in Fallbrook, CA. and Homer, AK. It was here on the Kenai Peninsula where Russ chose to be an Alaskan resident again. Russ had a keen affection for Alaska which began as a young boy in Prince William Sound where he was home schooled by his mother. He later worked his way through PLU as a fisherman, eventually owning/operating a salmon cannery with his wife on the Yukon River, requiring dog sled access in the spring. Along with his father and brother he was among the founding partners of Trident Seafood's. In Seattle he worked in the savings and loan industry before retiring in 1983. He was very constructive with his hands, building the home in Fallbrook from the ground up as well as maintaining an active avocado grove on the property. Russell was preceded in death by his parents Mildred Nelson Jacobson and Reynold (Mike) Jacobson, Brother Bruce Jacobson and sister-in-law Elsie Giesert. Russ is survived by his wife Margaret, sons Lance and Leif, brother Lawrence Jacobson, sister-in-law Gail Jacobson and their families and sister-in-law Doris Larson, brother-in-law Gerald Larson and their families. We can all rest assured that Russ was washed in the Blood of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

A memorial Service with Military Honors will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery on Monday March 11th at 1:30 pm.
