Sarah at the age of 8 was already orphaned and living with the John Gillespie family in Marion County, IA. Her brother, John lived nearby.
At 16 she was living in the home of her brother, Wilson Throckmorton, when she married, farm laborer, Otis C. Morey on November 14, 1852, in Farmington, Iowa.
They were the parents of 7 known children, all of whom survived to adulthood: Lois Amanda, Oscar Deforest, Sarah Alice, Frank S., Annie Eliza, John Thomas and Lucinda May.
Sarah and Otis moved often over the years. Living in Carlisle, Lee and finally Four Mile, IA.
Sarah died in Polk County, IA sometime about 1885. The location of her and Otis’ final resting place has yet to be determined.
