Patricia Wade Earnest, 67, died Saturday evening at Holston Valley Medical Center.
Raised in Decatur, Ga, she received her bachelor's degree at The University of Chattanooga and then married Zeillie in 1959. They settled in Kingsport in 1961 where they raised their children.
She was a member, officer, and choir member of Waverly Road Presbyterian Church and director of the child care center there and later at First Broad Street United Methodist Church. She founded the resource and referral service through the United Way called Kingsport Area Children. She was a tireless advocate for the developmental and educational needs of children.
She and Zellie were past president couple for the Association of Couples Enrichment.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nelle Maddox Wade and I L Wade; her sister, Marjorie Wade Driskill; and a son, Capt Kevin N Earnest.
A memorial service was held at Waverly Road Presbyterian Church with interment in the Columbarium at Waverly Road Presbyterian Church.
