GLENNS FERRY • Elsworth Lee Sievers, 71, of Glenns Ferry, passed away Friday, March 8, 2013, after 24 years of battling cancer. His loving family was by his side.
A viewing will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home. On Thursday, March 14, at the Glenns Ferry Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a viewing will be held from 9:45 until 10:45 a.m. and the funeral will be at 11 a.m. funeral. Burial with military honors will follow at the Glenn Rest Cemetery.
Lee was born July 2, 1941, in Gannett, Idaho, to Floyd and Martha (Lance) Sievers. He graduated in Bellevue, Idaho, on May 19, 1959. He joined the U.S. Navy two days after graduation at the age of 17 and went to the San Diego Naval Training Center. He married Mary Mae Maas in 1960 in Bellevue. They had four children, Mary Lee (Tony) Espinosa of Rupert, Kathy (Rego Beitia) Sievers of Rupert, James (Bryten) Sievers of Rupert and Brenda (Mark) Hedrick of Twin Falls. Mary and Lee later divorced.
Lee met his soul mate and the love of his life, Marcene Labrum. They were married in Paul, Idaho, on July 9, 1974. They were sealed for time and all eternity on April 6, 1977, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They added four more children to their family, Nicole Sievers of Hammett, Allisha (R.J.) Lundergreen of Glenns Ferry, Daniel (Robin Bandy) Sievers of Wendell and Ashley Sievers of Glenns Ferry.
Lee has 24 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Lee has five brothers, Duane (Elfreda) Sievers of Boise, Floyd Jr. (Deanne Wolf) Sievers of Camas, Utah, Calvin (Nancy) Sievers of Oakley, Howard (Holly) Sievers of Joseph, Ore., Harold (Terry) Sievers of Illinois; and his sister, Mary Ann (Dave) Edwards of Nampa.
Lee spent most of his life farming in Idaho, the last 37 years in Glenns Ferry where he has many friends and called home. Lee loved nothing more than spending time with his kids and grandkids. His family was the most important part of his life. He relaxed by reading westerns, doing puzzles and watching TV. But sports were his passion. He will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him. He was a true friend to many and the most important person in the world to his family.
Lee is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Martha (Lance) Sievers; sister, Linda Bieroth; and daughter, Kaitlin Sievers.
