G. Bruce McKenzie, 50, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2000, at Menorah Medical Center. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, March 18, at Mount Moriah Funeral Home and Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO. Visitation will precede the service at 2 p.m. The family requests no flowers, and that contributions be made in Bruce's name to the pediatric unit of the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Bruce was born on March 6, 1950. He received a Bachelor of Architecture from Kansas State University in 1973. Bruce was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loyal supporter of Kansas State athletics. In October of 1997, Bruce achieved his dream of opening his own architectural firm, McKenzie Architects. Bruce was the architect for the new Colonial Presbyterian Church campus to be located in Overland Park, KS. Bruce had been a member of Colonial since 1974. Bruce will be deeply missed by his colleagues, friends, and family. Bruce is survived by his wife of 25 years, Barb; and his daughter, Katie. Also surviving are his parents, Gordon and Charlotte McKenzie, Leawood, KS; and his brother, Robert McKenzie, Houston, TX. (Mt. Moriah & Freeman Chapel, (816)
